Two United States Mint Authorized Purchasers (AP’s) have started selling their inventory of 2010 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins at a price that is near the cost of the five ounces of silver within each piece.
Jack Hunt Coin Broker (JHCB) is offering a set of five for $949.00 ($860.20 plus $88.20 for shipping) and Manfra, Tordella & Brookes (MTB) is reselling them for $1,025.00, which includes shipping.
The London fix of silver on Friday was $37.68 an ounce, giving each of the 2010 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins an intrinsic or melt value of $188.40, or $942 for a complete set of five. The US Mint produced a limited 33,000 coins per design.
Nine of eleven AP’s ordered their limited supply of .999 fine silver coins under stricter terms and conditions when they were conditionally released after a short delay following price gouging complaints from potential collectors and investors.
One of the new US Mint terms was that each AP had to resell 2010 ATB Silver Bullion Coins directly to the public, and only one of each of the five designs could be sold per household. Previously, most AP’s sold bullion coins only to other businesses. They were not set up to sell into a retail environment. That caused delays in getting the coins out, and helped lift their secondary market prices even higher.
The nine Authorized Purchasers who participated in reselling the five once silver coins include:

- American Precious Metals Exchange – Oklahoma City, OK – www.apmex.com
- Coins ‘N Things, Bridgewater, MA – atb.cntofma.com

- MTB, New York City, NY – www.mtbcoins.com

While many of the AP’s have already sold their inventory and are preparing to resell this year’s 2011 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins when they become available, the two mentioned earlier have begin reselling theirs.

The US Mint has indicated that it is has substantially increased mintage levels for the 2011 issues, but has not yet announced when those will be released. The higher mintages have enabled the Mint to end the special terms and conditions set in place last year, and let the AP’s resell the 2011 ATB bullion coins in the same manner as they have sold the bullion American Silver Eagles for year.
