Collectors have only a few hours more to place orders for 2012 commemorative silver coins and 2011 September 11 National Medals.
United States Mint sales of these strikes conclude on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 5 PM Eastern Time.
Specifically, sales end for the commemorative Infantry Soldier Silver Dollars and commemorative Star-Spangled Banner Silver Dollars as well as the aforementioned 9/11 Silver Medals. The related commemorative Star-Spangled Banner $5 Gold Coins will also be removed from availability at the same time.
Legally, the commemorative gold and silver coins may be sold through to the very end of 2012, according to the legislation which authorized them. However, the U.S. Mint indicated sales would end earlier to allow for final order fulfillment.
