U.S. Mint numismatic silver products with the biggest weekly sales were 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles, 2012 Silver Proof Sets and 2012-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles. Demand, however, eased slightly compared to the prior week, but sales were high enough for the Silver Proof Set to hit a milestone.
In the latest round of coin sales, 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles shot up by 31,964 orders after adding 41,853 previously. Their newest total reached 733,255 thanks to five straight weeks of increases that ranged between 11,699 and 62,623.
The second bestselling silver collectibles were 2012 Silver Proof Sets. They topped 300,000 in sales after 4,088 orders were placed during the week. The prior round saw 4,170. The sets launched in June but over the last three months, collectors have been buying an average of 4,470 each week. 300,945 is their latest sales total.
2012 Uncirculated Silver Eagles came in third. 2,193 were recently scooped up. Their previous gain was 3,909 right after their sales fell by -8,791 in early September. As it stands, their total is back up to 142,266.
Demand for bullion coins has been on the rise. The U.S. Mint network of Authorized Purchasers bought 1,264,000 Silver Eagles over the past week, compared to 922,000 previously. September’s total quickly rose to 3,225,000 and is now the second bestselling month, behind January. With the latest increase, the year-to-date figure hit 25,765,000.
