2013 Aurora Australis Silver Coin Glows in the Dark

One of the Perth Mint of Australia’s most popular annual series now features its newest release with the glow in the dark 2013 Aurora Australis 1 Ounce Silver Coin.
The Aurora Australis coin is in one ounce of 99.9% pure silver, produced to proof quality and features a maximum mintage of 7,500. Shown on the reverse of the silver coin is a colored image emblematic of the night sky phenomenon known as the Aurora Australis. Elements of it glow in the dark.
This strike appears as the tenth annual release of the Perth Mint’s Australian Antarctic Territory series. Previous silver coins of the program include:

Designs and Specifications of Aurora Australis Silver Coins
Offered on the reverse of the proof 2013 Aurora Australis Silver Coin is an image emblematic of the night-time Southern lights. The lights are featured in a hue of colors in the shape of Antarctica created with glow in-the-dark ink. Also seen in the image is a human observer with a tracked vehicle off in the distance. The reverse was designed by Perth Mint artist Wade Robinson.
Reverse inscriptions include 2013 AURORA AUSTRALIS, AUSTRALIAN ANTARCTIC TERRITORY and 1 OZ 999 SILVER. To the left, the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is found.
The obverse contains Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and the legal tender face value of 1 DOLLAR.
Each proof coin features a diameter of 40.60 mm, a thickness of 4.00 mm and a minimum gross weight of 31.135 grams.
The Aurora Australis silver coin is housed in a charcoal colored presentation case with an illustrated shipper and a numbered certificate of authenticity.
