The Perth Mint of Australia produced three different sized 2013 Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coins

Offered as part of the new release will be three different sized 2013 Kookaburra coins — one kilo, ten ounce and one ounce.

All three are composed from 99.9% pure silver and are guaranteed for weight and purity by the government of Australia.

This bullion series made its debut in 1990. It has appeared annually ever since and has attained a loyal following among collectors and investors who prize the strikes for their government guaranteed content and annually changing reverse designs.

The design showcased on the reverse of 2013 Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coins shows two juvenile kookaburras perched on a single tree branch. Below the birds, native flowers can be seen.

Kookaburras are indigenous to Australian and nearby New Guinea. They are large terrestrial tree kingfishers and are easily recognizable by their call which is typically described as sounding like loud human laughter.

Also included in the reverse design of the new coins is the Perth Mint’s historic ‘P’ mint mark. Reverse inscriptions include "Australian Kookaburra," "2012," "999 Silver" and the weight of the strike, either "1 Kilo," "10 oz" or "1 oz."

Obverses of the new Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coins contain the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Obverse inscriptions include "Elizabeth II," "Australia" and the legal tender face value of the coin. These values include "30 Dollars" for the kilo coin, "10 Dollars" for the ten ounce coin and "1 Dollar" for the one ounce coin.

The Perth Mint indicates the maximum mintage of the one ounce coin will be 1,000,000. No mintage limit will apply to the one kilo and ten ounce coins.

2013 Australian Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coins ship in protective acrylic capsules.

About the Perth Mint

In 1970, ownership of the Perth was transferred to the State Government of Western Australia and it was declared the official issuer of the Australian Federal Government’s Gold and Silver Bullion Coin Program. It continues in that role today along with operating as one of the most respected gold refineries in the world.
