2013 Australian Map Shaped Platypus Silver Coin

New from the Perth Mint is the latest release from its popular Australian Map Shaped Coin Series, the 2013 Australian Map Shaped Platypus Silver Coin.
This limited mintage issue marks the fourth to appear in a series featuring silver coins struck in the shape of the Australian continent with colored reverse designs. Like the previous issues, the Platypus coin is composed of one ounce of 99.9% pure silver.

These three silver coins all sold out with mintage caps of 6,000 in place. That same mintage applies to this newest coin, making a sell-out highly likely.
Platypus Silver Coin Design, Specifications and Order Details
Ing Ing Jong designed the reverse image of the coin which depicts a single platypus. The mammal is set against a colorful background design of a tropical waterfall and river. Reverse inscriptions include "PLATYPUS," "1 oz 999 SILVER" and "2013."
The obverse has Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Obverse inscriptions surrounding the portrait include "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," "2013" and the legal tender face value of "1 DOLLAR."
