Now available from the United States Mint is the 2013-P Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin.
Sales of the second 2013-dated release from the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin program began at Noon (Eastern) Thursday, June 6, 2013.
Shown on the reverse of the strike is a design emblematic of the Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial in the state of Ohio.
"These striking numismatic collectibles are produced with an uncirculated finish and display a ‘P’ mint mark for the United States Mint at Philadelphia, where they are struck," describes the coin’s product page.
"These coins are legal tender and have a nominal face value of 25 cents. Their fineness and weight are edge-incused on the coins. The coins are encapsulated, set in a protective outer box, and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity."
The silver uncirculated coin is a collector version of the Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial Silver Bullion Coins released by the Mint on June 3rd. The bullion coin, intended for investors but also purchased by collectors, has a brilliant finish and lacks the ‘P’ mint mark even though it is also produced at the Philadelphia Mint. Both versions contain designs originally created for the Perry’s Victory quarter issued as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.
Pricing
The U.S. Mint has the price of the collector-grade five ounce coin at $179.95. This is the same price point as the White Mountain National Forest Silver Uncirculated Coin, the first 2013-dated release of the series. The price does, however, mark a much lower level than previous issues which is mostly due to the recent down turn in silver. As a precious metal product from the U.S. Mint, pricing is subject to change based on market conditions.
Designs and Specifications for Perry’s Victory Silver Coins
Featured on the reverse is a design by U.S. Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart. It depicts the statue of Master Commandant Oliver Hazard Perry with the doric column of the Peace Memorial off in the distance. Inscriptions include PERRY’S VICTORY, OHIO, 2013, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
Struck to resemble the related America the Beautiful Quarters® release, the obverse depicts a portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan. The portrait has been featured (with minor variations) on the obverse of circulating quarter dollars since 1932. Obverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR.
The fineness and weight of each coin is edge incused with .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE.
