At least the United States Mint is not part of the current federal government shutdown. The national parks are closed, but sales continue for the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins honoring them.
Numismatic versions powered forward with the first of the 2013 issues selling out this week, the 2013-P White Mountain National Forest Silver Uncirculated Coin.
Released on May 16, 2013, it debuted at $179.95. It was later lowered to $154.95 and this was the price when it sold out. The latest sales stats as of Sunday had it up 202 to 20,691. The total is likely to change some by next week’s report since its sellout came Wednesday.
Demand for the five ounce series, supported by their lower prices, has gone up this year. The White Mountain sales total is the highest of the uncirculated silver coins since those issued in 2011. (The same is true for the White Mountain bullion version that sold out on Sept. 11 with a final sales tally of 35,000.)
Most recently, weekly cumulative sales of collector 2013-dated strikes reached 847. That is 282 higher than the total purchased in the prior round. The top seller was the most recent Fort McHenry silver coin, outselling the White Mountain silver coin by 319 to 202. Its total and those of the other releases are found in the grid further below.
In the bullion ATB arena over the last seven days, U.S. Mint Authorized Purchasers picked up 600 of the Fort McHenry silver coins after ordering more than a thousand each of the Perry’s Victory, Great Basin, and Fort McHenry coins at the start of the month. Each of these coins already has sales that are higher than any of the 2012-dated releases. It should be noted that the last of this year’s issues, the Mount Rushmore silver coin, is slated for release in November.
Finally, in other numismatic weekly sales, the most dominating silver products belonged in the American Silver Eagle category. 2013-W Proof American Silver Eagles jumped another 15,755 to hit 786,194. They will likely cross the 800,000 marker in the next few days. Next highest were sales of the 2013-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. Its total ran up 4,945 to clock in at 148,419 in this round.
In the table below are the latest sales stats for collector silver coins and related products from the US Mint. Sunday, Oct. 9, is the "as of" date.
