2014 American Silver Eagle Coin Sales Record Tops 44 Million

It was a remarkable year for American Silver Eagle bullion coins. 2014 sales ended at a new annual record of 44,006,000 when the silver coins were officially declared "sold out" earlier today, December 24.
US Mint sales of 2014 American Silver Eagles finished above the previous annual record by over 1.3 million coins.
The final sales number in 2014 beat last year’s sales record by 1,331,000 coins. Much of the demand may have been fueled by falling silver prices, down by nearly 19% this year, but then again, demand for the one ounce .999 pure silver coin has steadily risen over recent years despite price fluctuations. As for the 2015-dated American Silver Eagles, everyone will have to wait a couple of weeks to get them since they don’t go on sale until January 12, 2015.
On the numismatic front, one more 2014 commemorative coin sold out. The last order for the 2014-P Civil Rights Act of 1964 Uncirculated Silver Dollar was taken, and the latest sales stats shows a total of 24,574 had been ordered as of Sunday. The commemorative was released on January 2, 2014.
As for its counterpart, in an enhanced proof quality, only a few days of availability remain. Per Public Law 110-451, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Silver Dollars can only be sold during the 2014 calendar year. To provide time for shipping, the ordering deadline is noon ET on December 30. At this time, 60,852 of the proofs have sold.
