2014 Silver Eagles, Silver Proof Sets Advance Most in Sales

Silver Eagles and silver proof sets fared best during a mostly slower buying week, according to the most recent United States Mint sales stats. Of the three top selling silver collector products though, only one managed to advance at a faster pace than it did in the previous report.
Sales of 2014 Silver Proof Sets rose 13,534 to 230,610
Weekly sales for the 2014-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle tripled to 12,406 after adding 3,210 in the last round. Collectors may have been pre-occupied before, since the uncirculated Silver Eagle had to compete with the debut of the 2014 Shenandoah National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, which had started at 20,120. In this period, orders for the Shenandoah silver coin went up 1,177 to 21,297.
The 2014 Silver Proof Set led the group with gains of 13,534, but that was a far cry from the 21,387 picked up in the prior sales report. The price for the set, $53.95, is still the same as it was when it launched nearly a month ago, and the latest numbers show the new total hit 230,610.
As for the ever popular 2014-W Proof Silver Eagles, they climbed 7,477 to reach 550,641. Its gain ranked third highest in the silver category.
