Bullion sales of 2015 American Silver Eagles will resume in one week from today, July 27, the United States Mint told its authorized distributors on Friday. The U.S. Mint also said their return will be allocated, meaning it will limit how many of them buyers can buy each week.
Sales of the bullion silver coins ended almost two weeks ago, on July 7, when the U.S. Mint’s inventory of them ran out on the heels of several weeks of bullish demand as silver prices tumbled.
In June, sales surged to 4,840,000 coins compared to the prior month’s 2,023,500 and 2,692,000 in June 2014. This month so far, sales hit 2,709,000. That compares to total sales of 1,975,000 in all of July 2014. Silver Eagle sales up to the suspension reached 24,495,000.
