2015 Kisatchie 5 Oz Silver Bullion Coins Debut
April 22, 2015 by Rhonda Kay · 1 Comment
With a launch date of Monday, April 20, the 2015 Kisatchie National Forest America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coin hit the market. Orders from the U.S. Mint’s network of Authorized Purchasers reached 23,000 coins on the first day and 29,500 by Wednesday.
This newest Kisatchie silver coin is intended for investors and does not have the P mintmark nor the collector finish of the uncirculated version that is scheduled for release next Tuesday, April 28. Those characteristics are not necessary for the cheaper bullion coin. Since the Mint does not sell them directly to the public like the collector versions, consumers have to look for them in the secondary market any pay a small premium above their spot/melt value.
First-day Kisatchie sales at 23,000 demonstrated stronger interests compared to inaugural sales of this year’s first 5 ouncer, which features Homestead National Monument. It opened in February with sales of 14,200. Now the question is, will the Kisatchie coin sell out and if so, how long will it take? The Homestead bullion coin sold out in 42 days at 35,000.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the US Mint. Sunday, April 19, is the as of date.
