We’re late with our weekly U.S. Mint sales stats article, but the delay allows us to show day-by-day orders for the 2015 March of Dimes Special Silver Set.
In the first 24 hours of its release, which happened at noon ET this past Monday, collectors swooped in and picked up 52,540 of the sets, or 70% of the authorized 75,000.
Sales slowed from that pace, but they remain solid, and a sell out could happen at any time. The sets, described in detail here, have logged the following day-by-day sales:

Tuesday, May 5 | 52,540 | |
Wednesday, May 6 | +5,589 | 58,129 |
Thursday, May 7 | +5,753 | 63,882 |
Friday, May 8 | +2,227 | 66,109 |

Tuesday, May 12 | +2,064 | 71,114 |

By Friday, 88% of them sold, leaving 13,569 left. Sales are now on "Back Order" status. Ordering options remain open, but the Mint has the set’s in-stock date listed as August 14, 2015.
Sales Update: Sales on Monday, May 11, hit 92% of the authorized. They went to 94.8% of their maximum by Tuesday. The table above reflects the new figures. The U.S. Mint on Tuesday also ended the set’s household order limit.
Sales Update 2: The sets became unavailable a few hours after the removal of their ordering limits. Its product’s page now has a "Remind Me" button to receive an email if they become available again.
Sales Update 3: The Mint provided the following statement on Wednesday, May 13: "The updated sales figures for (DM5) 2015 March of Dimes Special Silver Set is 74,664 units. We are in the process of reconciling our inventory with the orders we have received. As indicated yesterday, the product is still currently unavailable."
2015-P Kisatchie Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin Sales Debut
Making its debut in the Mint’s sales stats this week is the collectible 2015-P Kisatchie National Forest Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. After launching on Tuesday, April 28, its sales reached 15,622 in six days. It is the second in the America the Beautiful series, and compared to the Homestead silver coin, demand for the Kisatchie coin fell short in the early going. In March, beginning sales for the Homestead coin clocked in at 16,216 after just four days.
In related sales, the Kisatchie five ounce silver bullion coin sold out at 42,000. We’ll talk more about this in a later article.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the US Mint. Sunday, May 3, is the as of date.
