2015 Silver Proof Set Posts Early Sales of 184,613

Initial orders for the 2015 Silver Proof Set reached 184,613 by Sunday, per new sales stats data from the United States Mint. The set hit the market only four days earlier, on Thursday, May 14.

The annual set from San Francisco just reached over the top of last year’s debut of 183,520. It too had been released in May with a $53.95 price tag. The latest total for the 2014 set clocked in at 420,816 after climbing by 754 in this round.

Annual sets are very popular with collectors and gift-givers, but what makes this silver set unique are the seven coins composed of 90% silver (see photos of the set). They include the Kennedy half-dollar, Roosevelt dime, and five America the Beautiful Quarters.

Weekly sales of other products with the white precious metal paled in comparison to the new set. The second highest sellers were 2015-W Proof Eagle Silver Coins. Collectors picked up 4,396 of them for a new total of 390,039.
