2016 Cumberland Gap and Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Rule

The quickest mover in the silver category on the latest United States Mint sales chart was the 2016 Proof National Park Service 100th Anniversary Commemorative Silver Dollar, jumping by 2,061, but on the bullion side it was the new 2016 Cumberland Gap 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coin and 2016 American Silver Eagle.

For the bullion Silver Eagles, most of the weekly allocated coins were gone by Thursday. Out of a possible 1 million, orders for 912,500 had been taken. Their year-to-date figure came to 17,912,500 coins, which was 28.2% higher than the same time in record year 2015.

2016 Cumberland Gap 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins moved from the 48,000 sold on their first day to 64,000 by the end of day Thursday. The U.S. Mint released them on Monday, April 18.

Back to collector sales, it should be noted that the 2015 Homestead 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin was removed from the US Mint’s online catalog and weekly sales report. It had been about three weeks since its figure had changed. Until further notice, final sales ended at 21,286.

Inaugural sales numbers for the 2016 Silver Proof Set that launched on Monday, April 18, will be available in the next round of stats.
