2016 Limited Edition Silver Sets Debut; Silver Eagle November Sales

The United States Mint released its 2016 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set just in time for the holiday season, and collectors responded by placing orders for 19,266 units.
Orders of the 2016 Limited Silver Proof Set reached 19,266 in three days. Last year’s set opened with 6-day sales of 20,529.
Across the board it was the U.S. Mint’s best-selling numismatic product for the week, despite its late-week launch on Friday, November 25.
Other top selling silver products included the individually-packaged 2016-W Proof Silver Eagle with 12,140 orders and the 2016 Silver Proof Set’s 8,113 orders. These additions bumped the Eagle’s total sold number up to 473,193 and the set’s overall number up to 321,342.
End of month results for 2016 American Eagle silver bullion coin sales in November revealed a downtick, but still showed strength compared to each of the June to September monthly totals. The U.S. Mint sells bullion coins to a group of authorized purchasers. These buyers took in 3,061,000 Silver Eagles in November after grabbing 3,825,000 in October. The difference was a 20% drop. When compared to November last year, the total was down 36.6% as November 2015 had 4,824,000 coins on the books. Year-to-date sales at 37,461,500 are 16.1% lower than the 44,666,500 sold through the same time last year.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, November 27, is the as of date for the standard collectibles and Friday, December 2, is the as of date for the bullion products.
