2016-P Cumberland Gap Silver Coin Inaugural Sales

The number one numismatic seller for the United States Mint last week was the new 2016-P Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. Inaugural sales clocked in at 14,854 between its release on Thursday, May 5 and Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Compared to its predecessor’s coin launch in February, sales for the new collector coin were only a bit slower. (Read about the coin’s release.) The prior Shawnee Forest silver coins kicked off with early orders of 15,263, which was only 409 more. Since then, it has moved up to 16,675 with 191 added from a week earlier.

As for the investor-quality version, the bullion Cumberland Gap silver coin sales remained at 64,000 and have not changed since April 21.

Bullion American Silver Eagles added 972,500 orders to their total this week, and that brought them up to 20,972,500 coins. Last year the Silver Eagles didn’t cross the 20 million sales milestone until June 23.
