2016 Proof Silver Eagles Up, Uncirculated Eagles Down

While the 2016-W Proof American Silver Eagle and the 2016 Silver Proof Set were in a tight race to become silver’s weekly bestsellers for the U.S. Mint, sales of the 2016-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle dramatically dropped. It held the top spot in the previous report.

The anniversary-styled proof Silver Eagle edged out the Silver Proof Set by less than 500 units. Consumers ordered 3,954 of the Eagles and 3,478 of the sets.
A downward adjustment of 8,920 units was made to the uncirculated Silver Eagle’s total. Reasons for the drop can often be attributed to returns, failed credit card transactions, or physical inventory audits. Nevertheless, the uncirculated Silver Eagle’s total slipped to 163,882.
As for upcoming 2017-dated silver coins, the world has to wait until January 9 for the investor quality bullion Silver Eagles to start their sales and January 18 for the first collector quality silver commemoratives to launch, the 2017 Lions Clubs International Centennial Silver Dollars in proof and uncirculated finishes.
