Unique collector silver coins depicting notorious rogues of the Golden Age of Piracy were launched Monday by The Perth Mint of Australia.
The limited minted, five-coin set features the infamous pirates: Black Bart, Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, Henry Morgan and Calico Jack.
Each coin is proof, struck in 99.9 percent silver, contains one full ounce of silver, weighs 31.135 grams and has a diameter of 40.60 millimeters. The silver dollars are also issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu. The set has a worldwide mintage of just 1,500.
In addition to portraying a historic pirate and inscripted name, the coin reverses bear the "P" mint mark, denoting The Perth Mint. The obverse of each features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the year 2009.
