Silver prices ended the week lower for the first time in 2009. The London Silver Fix closed Friday to $10.78 an ounce, falling 44 cents, or 3.9 percent from last Friday’s close of $11.22.

2008 Annual Uncirculated Dollar set sales increased the most over the previous silver coin stats, according to the US Mint newest figures. Sales were up by 1,514 coins, or 3.73 percent.

Silver again ended the week on a higher note, following a trend beginning in early December. The London Silver Fix closed Friday to $11.22 an ounce, rising 14 cents or 1.3 percent from last Friday’s close of $11.08.

Sales figures for the American Legacy Collection experienced the largest percentage rise compared to the previous US Mint sales report. Numbers increased 4.83 percent and by 2,777 units. For a product that was discontinued on December 12, its percent leadership is surprising and unexplained.
