Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coins at 91.6% of Maximum Sales

Few days remain before the commemorative National Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coins sell out like the gold versions did one week ago and only a few days into their release. Expect a U.S. Mint "Waiting List" to appear at any time or for them to simply become unavailable.

United States Mint sales have the silver coins at 91.6% of the allotted 400,000. Sales across both options jumped 137,815 in a week after totaling 228,525 in the first few days from their release on March 27, 2014. Available in two collector versions, proof sales are 238,636 and uncirculated sales are 127,704 for a total of 366,340. At the current sales pace with only 36,340 available, the silver coins could be gone within two days.

The commemoratives honoring the 75th anniversary of the National Baseball Hall of Fame are the first curved coins from the U.S. Mint with obverses that are concave and reverses that are convex. Along with the silver coins, also available were two gold coins until their sell out on the 31st and the still available two clad half-dollars. The latter coins should be available for some time. They have the highest combined mintage of 750,000 compared to mintages of 400,000 for the silver coins and 50,000 for the gold coins.

In the grid below are the latest sales stats for all six National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins as of 9:30 AM ET today, Monday, April 7, 2014.
