Canadian 2014 $200 Towering Forests Silver Coin for Face Value

A new Royal Canadian Mint "$200 for $200" series launched Thursday, July 17, with the public release of the 2014 $200 Towering Forests 2 Ounce Silver Coin.
The coin’s mintage is limited to 20,000 with an added ordering limit of two per household. The release marks the inaugural strike from the Mint’s Landscapes of the North program and is available for its legal tender face value of CAD $200.
"For the first time in the Mint’s history, $200 can buy you a $200 fine silver coin," touts the Royal Canadian Mint on its website. "Take advantage before the coin sells out!"
Additional two-ounce silver coins will be offered in the future as part of the Landscapes of the North series with each showcasing a different design emblematic of the natural beauty of Canada.
Designs and Specifications of Towering Forests Silver Coins
On the reverse of the Towering Forests 2 Ounce Silver Coin is Canadian artist Ellen Cowie’s vision of the forests of Canada along with several of the creatures that inhabit them. Inscriptions around the 360° design include CANADA, 200 DOLLARS, and 2014. The artist’s initials of "EC" also appear toward the right half of the image.
Each coin is produced as legal tender of Canada and features Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Inscriptions on the front include ELIZABETH II and D.G. REGINA.

Based on the London Fix for silver of $20.78 an ounce on July 17, 2014, each two-ounce silver coin has an approximate melt value of $41.56.
