End of the Year US Mint Silver Coin Sales

The end of the year signals the end of two United States Mint commemorative coin programs. In 2014, they were the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Silver Dollars and the National Baseball Hall of Fame Coins.

For the Civil Rights Act of 1964 dollars, the enhanced proof versions outpaced the uncirculated 61,317 to 24,591 as of Sunday, December 28. Those totals will change some in next week’s report, because the proofs were still available through December 30.
Despite selling out a month after their launch earlier this year, 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coin sales numbers fluctuated many times. In the latest US Mint sales stats, however, their combined total made it back up to the maximum product limit of 400,000. Broken out, the proofs were ahead 268,076 to 131,924. Their most recent weekly gains — 2,646 for the proof and 920 for the uncirculated — were due to them briefly returning for sale.
Also facing the end of availability, and mentioned in the Mint’s Last Chance Sale, was the 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. Buyers had until Wednesday, December 31, to place final orders. So far 138,294 have been purchased.
