Glacier 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin Sales Debut
November 2, 2011 by Rhonda Kay · Leave a Comment
Competing for the collectible sales spotlight last week was the 2011-P Glacier 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, released Tuesday, and 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set, released Thursday. The anniversary set obviously won, as all 100,000 units were ordered in the first five hours and they sold out.
The collector Glacier coin, on the other hand, garnered 10,680 orders by Monday, October 31, out of 35,000 available strikes. Its seven day debut sales were mostly in line with the opening figures for the previous issue in the America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series, which was the 2011-P Gettysburg coin that started with 9,549 in five days.
An unusual occurrence on the sales chart was the direction of the individual Silver Eagle coins, a surge for the Proof Silver Eagles and a dip for the Uncirculated Silver Eagles. The proof coins spiked by 22,110 after adding 11,995 in the prior report, yet the uncirculated coins plummeted by -12,464. Its previous gain had been 4,580. The new sales total for the proof became 805,897 and the uncirculated went down to 183,043.
