Thursday, June 6, 2013 is the last day to buy a 2013 American Silver Eagle West Point Two-Coin Set. The United States Mint will accept orders for it until 5 PM (Eastern) on the 6th. After that, they will only be available from the secondary market.
Included in the two-coin set are one reverse proof American Silver Eagle and one enhanced uncirculated American Silver Eagle, both struck at the U.S. Mint’s West Point facility. The set may be purchased for $139.95, which is the same price point used since it was released four weeks ago.
Sales opened at noon ET on May 9, 2013. As announced by the Mint prior to its release, orders are accepted during a four-week window with no household limit established and the final mintage determined by customer demand.
That demand was intense in the first few hours of availability, leading to technical difficulties on both the Mint’s website and its telephone ordering system. By noon of the next day (24 hours after release), the U.S. Mint reported set orders at 149,622.
Sales waned fairly quickly, as is the case with most new releases. Orders since that first day have moved up another 83,756. The Mint’s "Total Units Ordered" website banner indicates sales of 233,378 at around 3 PM on Tuesday, June 4.
Update: Sales jumped in the final hours of the set’s availability. The sales grid below has been updated with the final total offered, which is 281,310.

Sales may yet again accelerate before their closing on Thursday if collectors determine the final mintage is low enough to garner additional attention. Last year’s 2012 American Silver Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Set saw daily sales double, triple or more from previous numbers as its closing date approached. It should be noted though, that relatively lackluster results were logged in the final two days. That set closed with final sales of 251,302.
As mentioned, the 2013 American Silver Eagle West Point Two-Coin Set contains two Silver Eagles. The enhanced uncirculated Silver Eagle is a new option from the Mint featuring three differing finishes. Reverse proofs have been issued in previous years. The two silver coins will only be released as part of the set and not offered elsewhere.
Collectors may place orders for the two-coin set online, on this U.S. Mint page, or by phone using 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
