Little Change in US Mint Weekly Sales Stats

Little has changed trend-wise in the latest sales stats from the United States Mint. 2016 Silver Proof Sets led again among silver products for coin collectors, advancing 5,720. The previous report had them up 6,167, which was also the biggest gain in silver offerings. The Silver Proof Set’s cumulative sales total is at 212,722 since becoming available on sale April 18.

On the investor side, the U.S. Mint restricted authorized buyers to a weekly allocation level of 1,672,500 bullion American Silver Eagles. The weekly limit continues to rise as unsold coins carry over to a new week and as the Mint maintains a weekly production pace of roughly 1 million coins. So far, only 230,000 coins, or 13.8%, of this week’s supply have been ordered. Next week’s allocation level could really jump. Year-to-date Silver Eagles sales tally to 24,557,500 coins, which is about 27% higher than the same time in record selling year 2015.

Finally, sales of 2016 Harpers Ferry 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coin rose on Thursday for the first time since they logged sales of 33,000 coins on their release day, June 7. They moved up 1,200 to 34,200 coins.

The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, June 12, is the as of date for the standard collectibles and Thursday, June 16, is the as of date for the bullion products.
