Older Proof Silver Eagles Back on Top

Last year’s 2016 Proof American Silver Eagle moved up in the latest round of the United States Mint weekly sales stats.

It was the leader in the white metal category, squeezing ahead of the recently popular 2017 America the Beautiful Silver Proof Set and proof 2017 Lions Clubs International Centennial Silver Dollar.
The proof Silver Eagle added 3,914 orders, so its total hit 544,468, while the 2017 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set followed closely with 3,296 orders. The number of sets that have sold since its debut on February 16 reached 51,236.
As for the Lions Clubs International Centennial Silver Dollars, they had been among the leaders ever since their launch on January 18. In this week’s report, the total number for the proofs rose by 1,878 to land at 48,223 orders overall.
2017-dated products will occupy the top spots next week, since the 2017 Boys Town Centennial Commemorative Coins launched on March 9 and the 2017-P Effigy Mounds Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin launched on March 7.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, March 5, is the as of date for the standard collectibles and Friday, Mar 10, is the as of date for the bullion products.
