Perth Mint Offers 2016 Special Occasion Silver Coins

Friendship, marriage and a baby are represented on three new silver coins now available from the Perth Mint of Australia. Each showcases colorful reverse designs to enhance their detail on the 99.9% pure silver issues.

The coins are designed to be given as gifts for those special occasions encountered throughout the year.

2016 50c Newborn Baby 1/2 oz Silver Proof Coin

Celebrating the birth of babies, the Perth Mint offers the 2016 Newborn Baby 1/2 Silver Proof Coin. Slightly altering the traditional stork concept, the coin’s reverse offers a kookaburra carrying a sleeping baby in a swaddling cloth.

Each coin is housed in a gift-themed card. The card has room for the baby’s details, a family tree and a photograph of the newborn.

This coin, designed by Aleysha Howarth, is struck on a mint-to-order basis with its final mintage announced after 12 months.

2016 $1 Wedding 1 oz Silver Proof Coin

Celebrating marriages and as designed by Perth Mint artist Jennifer McKenna, the new 2016 Wedding 1 oz Silver Proof Coin shows a bride and groom as they embrace. Intertwined gold wedding rings appear to the left of the couple.

‘Congratulations’ is inscribed below the rings along with the composition of 1 oz 999 SILVER.

A white glossy gift box is included with each purchase, which also incorporates a heart-shaped crystal on its lid.

These coins are struck on a mint-to-order basis with a final mintage announced at the end of the year.

2016 50c Always Together 1/2 oz Silver Proof Coin

Two cute puppies appear on the reverse of the new 2016 Always Together Silver Proof Coin. A chocolate colored Labrador is on the left with a yellow Labrador to the right. ‘Always Together’ is inscribed above. Like the newborn coin, Perth Mint artist Aleysha Howarth designed it.

Unlike the other two coins minted as Australian legal tender, this coin is legal tender of the island nation of Tuvalu. The coin ships in a black Perth Mint display case inside a colorful illustrated shipper.

Mintage for this coin is limited to 7,500.
