Demand grew for Infantry Soldier Silver Commemorative Coins and 2012 Silver Proof Sets, while interest in 2012-W American Silver Eagles declined.

Proof and Uncirculated 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar Commemorative Coins

Sales of each of the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar Commemorative Coins improved over the previous week.

As a group, Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar products jumped 526 after climbing 341 in the preceding sales report. Since a surcharge from the sale of these coins is being collected, $1,902,420 has been raised so far for the National Infantry Foundation.

The order deadline that was announced last week for all 2012 commemorative coins and the two 9/11 Silver Medals may have helped boost sales. In addition to the gains in Infantry Soldier dollars, 9/11 Silver Medals from West Point soared with a pick-up of 995 versus 94 previously. However, the medals struck at Philadelphia advanced much slower with only 44 purchased. Funds from the 9/11 Silver Medals benefit the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Receiving the most action were 2012-W Proof American Silver Eagle coins, but their numbers were sluggish compared to the prior weekly increase. Collectors purchased 5,567 of the proofs, versus the previous week’s 15,766. The U.S. Mint’s latest statistics showed that the Proof Silver Eagles are at 795,915.

Sales for the second most popular item improved as compared to the earlier level. 2012 Silver Proof Sets leapt by 3,789 after climbing 3,304 previously. Demand for the third top seller though abated. 2012-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles added 1,537 after surging by 2,839 in the last round.
