Sales of 2016 Liberty Medals Adjusted Modestly Lower

It’s been two weeks since the U.S. Mint launched the 2016 American Liberty Silver Medals, but none have been available since the sell out that occurred a few minutes after their debut.

In fact, the latest sales stats show a decrease of 18 each for both versions. The new total for the San Francisco strike fell to 12,201 and the West Point piece dropped to 12,203. At the time of this writing, the status of the medals on the U.S. Mint website is "unavailable."
The Mint’s latest numbers also show that silver’s best seller was the 2016 Silver Proof Set. Consumers ordered 2,237 over the past week, which moved the set’s overall total up to 252,638.
Just on the horizon are the 2016-W Proof Silver Eagles. Their release date is Friday, September 16 at 12 noon Eastern time, and they will be priced at $53.95 each. This year is the 30th anniversary of the Silver Eagles, and to commemorate the milestone, the Mint is making the proof coin’s edges smooth.
As for bullion American Silver Eagles, bulk orders during the first eight days of September totalled 310,000 and that bumped the year-to-date number up to 29,210,500. Authorized purchasers also took in 1,500 more of the new Theodore Roosevelt National Park 5 Ounce Bullion Silver Coins, so their overall figure moved up to an even 29,000.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, September 4, is the as of date for the standard collectibles and Thursday, September 8, is the as of date for the bullion products.
