Silver Prices Rise Nearly 7% for the Week

London silver finished higher on the week for the fifth straight time, as precious metals shined with solid gains ranging from 1.4 percent to 6.8 percent — the latter being silver. The metal broke the $14 barrier on Wednesday and maintained momentum, climbing 91 cents above last Friday’s close to finish at $14.28 an ounce.
Silver Ends Week with 48-cent Gain

It was a positive week for precious metals. London silver ended higher for the fourth consecutive week, closing to $13.37 an ounce. The metal climbed 48 cents for a 3.7 percent rise over last’s Friday’s close of $12.89.
Silver Prices Rise 3% for the Week

Silver prices marched higher on the week as did platinum and palladium. Gold, however, turned slightly lower. The London Silver Fix ended Friday at $12.51 an ounce, gaining 38 cents, or 3.0 percent from last Friday’s close of $12.51.

Silver surged earlier in week and sustained the momentum through to Friday. The metal had moved down during the previous week for the first time in 2009. London Silver Fix closed Friday to $11.46 an ounce, rising 68 cents, or a hefty 6.3 percent from last Friday’s close of $10.78.

Silver prices ended the week lower for the first time in 2009. The London Silver Fix closed Friday to $10.78 an ounce, falling 44 cents, or 3.9 percent from last Friday’s close of $11.22.

Silver again ended the week on a higher note, following a trend beginning in early December. The London Silver Fix closed Friday to $11.22 an ounce, rising 14 cents or 1.3 percent from last Friday’s close of $11.08.
