Silver Falls 10% in Three Weeks

For the shortened holiday week, silver and gold prices declined as palladium and platinum gained, marking a three-week repeat of the same cycle. London spot silver ended at $12.30 an ounce, plummeting 56 cents, or 4.4 percent, from last Friday’s close. Silver has declined 9.9 percent (down by $1.35) since March 20.
Silver Ends Week Below $13

Exactly like last week, silver and gold prices fell while palladium and platinum rose. Silver ended under $13 in London and in New York. In spot trading, the London silver fixing ended the week at $12.86 an ounce, falling 36 cents, or 2.7 percent. Silver dropped 43 cents during the previous week.

2008 turned out to be a rocky year for silver. The London silver fix kicked off on January 2 with a price of $14.93 an ounce. The precious metal closed Wednesday at $10.79 to finish the year with a depressing 27.7 percent decline.
