Uncirculated Boy Scouts Silver Dollars No Longer Available

The United States Mint’s 2010 Boy Scouts of American Uncirculated Silver Dollar coins are officially gone.
The coins sold out last week, but the U.S. Mint was still allowing customers to join a waiting list as a possible means to get them — if an older older prior to the sellout was cancelled, a new waiting list order could get processed.
On Thursday afternoon, however, the waiting list option disappeared from the Mint’s online store, and the coins moved to the "No Longer Available" category.
The latest Mint sales figures revealed that 107,292 of the uncirculated dollars were purchased by collectors as of Sunday, April 25, 2010. The next round of unaudited sales figures from the Mint should be available early this week, which should reveal the final numbers, or much closer numbers for the uncirculated silver coins.
As of this writing, only the proof Boy Scouts coin is available from the Mint for $43.95. There is no waiting list, nor any indication as to how long they will be available. Sales of the coins reached 223,310. Combined with the latest uncirculated tally, that leaves just 19,398 available as of last Sunday. (The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act, which was signed into Public Law 110-363 by President Bush in Oct. 2008, authorizes the US Mint to strike a maximum mintage of up to 350,000 collector silver dollars.)
The proof coins may be ordered from the Mints Web site (www.usmint.gov), or through its toll-free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The obverse coin design depicts a Cub Scout in the foreground with a Boy Scout and female Venturer in the background saluting. Inscriptions include CONTINUING THE JOURNEY, 1910, 2010, IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY. It was designed by Donna Weaver and engraved by Charles Vickers.
The reverse features the universal emblem of the Boy Scouts of America. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, BE PREPARED, E PLURIBUS UNUM and ONE DOLLAR. It was sculpted by Jim Licaretz.
$10 surcharges for each coin sold is paid to the National Boy Scouts of America Foundation, with funds made available in the form of grants for the extension of Scouting in hard to serve areas.
