Coin collectors can purchase the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set at noon Eastern Time on Friday, April 1. The US Mint will offer the set which includes 90 percent silver proof versions of this year’s America the Beautiful Quarters® for $41.95.
The silver coins include the Gettysburg National Military Park Quarter from Pennsylvania, Glacier National Park Quarter from Montana, Olympic National Park Quarter from Washington, Vicksburg National Military Park Quarter from Mississippi and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area Quarter from Oklahoma.
Each of the silver quarters are produced at the US Mint in San Francisco and bear the "S" mint mark. Standard circulating America the Beautiful Quarters are minted in either Denver or Philadelphia and carry the "D" or "P" mint mark.
Earlier in the year the US Mint had given notice that the proof set would launch for a price of $39.95. However, the cost of silver shot higher and that caused price increases for several US Mint silver products, including the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set.
The proof set contains just over 0.9 troy ounces of silver, giving it an intrinsic value of $34.24 when using Thursday’s London fix silver price of $37.87 an ounce.
