The United States Mint today started taking orders for its final silver product of the year, the 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.
Restricted to 50,000, the set combines issues from the 2012 Silver Proof Set with the 2012-W Proof American Silver Eagle for a total of eight silver coins.
As revealed earlier this month, the limited-edition silver set contains the following strikes in addition to the proof Silver Eagle:
- 2012 Silver Proof Kennedy Half Dollar
- 2012 Silver Proof Roosevelt Dime
- Five 2012 Silver Proof America the Beautiful Quarters honoring El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico, Chaco Culture National Historical Park in New Mexico, Acadia National Park in Maine, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii, and Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
The proof American Silver Eagle is struck in one ounce of 99.9% fine silver and bears the "W" mint mark for the West Point Mint. The other seven silver coins are struck in 90% silver and 10% copper and bear the "S" mink mark for the San Francisco Mint. It is these smaller coins that are also within the aforementioned 2012 Silver Proof Set that was released by the U.S. Mint in early June.
All of the silver coins are packaged within one protective lens and placed inside a presentation case uniquely designed for the limited-edition silver set.
Visit the U.S. Mint at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog to order the 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set for $149.95.
Buyers are restricted to two sets per household. A $4.95 shipping and handling fee is assigned to domestic orders. Shipping is expected to begin in late December.
