US Mint Sales: 2010 Proof Silver Eagles Sell Out
December 31, 2010 by Silver Coins Today · 1 Comment
Fewer silver coin products sold during Christmas week, the latest US Mint sales figures show. Proof Silver Eagles and Bullion Silver Eagles did not advance at all, but the Proof Silver Eagles sold out this week. As reported earlier, the just released America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins sold out as well.
Proof Silver Eagles stayed the same at 834,879. Previously, they had jumped 38,066 and had been the top selling numismatic silver product for several weeks. On Tuesday, the 28th, their status was changed to "Sold Out" on the US Mint website.
The 2010-dated Silver Eagles have the fourth highest selling record for the series despite their late November release, but that could change should the numbers change. It seems unlikely that none were sold during all of last week and during the first two days of this week. The US Mint did not respond to questions regarding the .999 fine silver coins as of this writing.
The most popular item in this round was the 2010 Silver Proof Set. Collectors picked up 7,768 of them, so the total passed the 500,000 milestone. It now stands at 505,722. The 2010 Quarters Silver Proof Set also increased. They added 1,441.
As for investor-grade silver coins, the US Mint has not published fresh figures showing any new sales of bullion 2010 Silver Eagles. That means December will turn out to be the slowest month in 2010 with 1,772,000 Silver Eagles sold, if the numbers remain unchanged.
Buyers, on the other hand, did order the last 23,000 of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins. All 165,000 of the five ounce coins, which included 33,000 of each design, will eventually be distributed by the Authorized Purchasers to the public. The US Mint indicated it will strike collector 2010 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins in early 2011, but release dates are yet to be made public.

Where are all the America the Beautiful 5 oz silver bullion coins? I have not seen any offered for sale by dealers. Why not?
