US Mint Sales: 2010 Quarters Silver Proof Set Climbs

Overall, demand for collector silver products eased compared to the previous week, the latest US Mint sales figures show.
One exception to the slower Mint sales was the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™. It experienced its best gain since early last month. The quarter set advanced 3,494 and exceeded its prior week’s move of 2,477 by 1,017. The last time the set surged by more than 3,000 was during the week that ended on October 3 when 4,498 were ordered. The quarters silver proof set now stands at 206,939.
The most purchased silver product in this round was the 14-coin 2010 Silver Proof Set. That is no surprise. It has been the most popular silver item since its launch on August 26, 2010. This time the sets climbed 10,416, topping its previous weekly sales gain of 10,154 by 262.
The one numismatic product that will beat the silver set will be the highly anticipated 2010 Proof Silver Eagle. It will launch on Friday, November 19. Last year’s 2009 Proof Eagles were canceled when coin planchets were dedicated to the bullion Silver Eagles.
The set that dragged silver sales down the most was the 2009 DC & US Territories Silver Quarters Proof Set. Even though it has been discontinued a couple of weeks, its total retreated by -1,108. The previous movement was an increase of 1,647 which pushed the sets over the 300K milestone. The latest fall, however, caused their new tally to end up at 299,151.
The proof American Veterans Disabled for Life dollar lost some momentum. 1,995 were sold compared to 3,279 proofs previously, a slow down of 1,284. The uncirculated had a different trend. It advanced 726 while the last report showed an addition of 670. As of this writing, only 27 days are left for the silver commemoratives. The Mint set a December 13 deadline for orders if the maximum mintage of 350,000 is not hit before then. 252,575 have sold so far.
