US Mint Sales: 2010 Silver Proof Sets Pass 400K

Silver demand turned 180 degrees in one week, according to the most recent sales report from the United States Mint. End of month sales slowed for numismatic products, but the silver sets made headway on some milestones.
First, the 2010 Silver Proof Set, which launched on August 26, cleared the 400K marker by picking up 10,343 and taking its total from 398,055 to 408,398.
Second, the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set moved up 2,435 to crawl over the 200K threshold after premiering on the market May 27. Its year-to-date figure hit 200,968.
The only silver set that did not hit its next threshold was the 2009 DC & US Territories Silver Quarters Proof Set. It crept up by 50 since the last report to land at 298,612, which was only 1,388 from 300K. Their recent weekly gains had been 1,236 and 1,726. But then, the set was also listed as sold out for most of last week before making a very brief reappearance on Wednesday. (They are again listed as sold out.)
Demand for American Veterans Disabled for Life silver dollars slid a little bit, because their weekly sales were 1,433 for the proofs and 442 for the uncirculated. Each had increased 1,800 and 530, previously. Sales may pick up again, however, because the U.S. Mint gave collectors a deadline of December 13, 2010, to place their orders for these silver commemoratives. Also, Veterans Day is November 11 and hopefully a few extra coins will get sold as more Americans remember those who have served. As of Sunday, their combined total was 245,905.
