US Mint Sales: Eagles Hot, Proof Silver Quarter Sets Pass 150K

Excluding bullion silver coins, it was a slower week for U.S. silver coin products. Each numismatic item took on an easier summertime pace than the previous week while the bullions blazed onward.
The most popular numismatic item was the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™. Sales were a touch slower, increasing 5,230 compared to 5,943. Their total hit 154,245.
As for its counterpart, the 2009 set was given an update. Since late July, the 2009 DC and Territories Quarters Silver Proof Set had been listed as "NLA" or No Longer Available in the US Mint’s weekly statistics, even though the set is still being offered on the Mint’s web site. In the latest figures, however, a total of 288,124 was reported, which was an increase of 2,018.
2010 Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollars advanced 1,016 against their prior gain of 1,247. It was the proofs that backed off the most, 799 versus 986, but they still did well. The uncirculated added 217, while before it had tacked on 261. So far, the commemoratives have reached 63% of their 350,000 maximum mintage.
Bullion 2010 American Silver Eagles remained hot. 567,000 were bought by the Mint’s authorized purchasers since last Thursday. August sales climbed to 842,500, and the year-to-date total came to 21,992,000 — about 6.77 million shy of 2009’s end-of-year total, which was 28,766,500.
The summer is winding down, and buyers are still patiently waiting for the unique 5 ounce America the Beautiful silver coins. Earlier in the year, the Mint predicted their releases would begin late summer, but so far there has not been an update on their availability.
