US Mint Sales: Perry’s Victory Silver Coin Inaugural Sales

After popping into the market on Thursday, June 6, the 2013-P Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin came out of its inaugural weekend with 7,966 orders.

By comparison, initial demand seemed somewhat average for the America the Beautiful silver coin series, especially since the opening numbers last month for the White Mountain silver coin stunned with 10,605 orders. On the other hand, this newest silver coin did start better than four out of the five 2012-dated issues. Below is a table of the starting sales for 2012-2013 silver coins:

One distraction may have been the beginning date of last Thursday. June 6 was a significant day in the numismatic world for another reason; it was the last day of sales for the 2013 American Silver Eagle West Point Two-Coin Set. By midday on June 5, the U.S. Mint reported 243,226 sets were estimated to have sold, but then after the final day, that number jumped to 281,310, a difference of 38,084.

In related news, the bullion version of the 2013 Perry’s Victory silver coin also debuted last week (June 3). This coin the United States Mint does not sell directly to the public like the collector version talked about above. So far, U.S. Mint distributors have ordered a total of 13,900 through to Thursday, June 13. Other bullion coin sales stats are listed further below.

Another hot ticket item last week was the 2013-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. Its sales numbers advanced another 11,579 to reach 116,149, and the coin had only been available as of May 28.
