US Mint Sales Show Variety, Silver Eagles More Limited

The United States Mint’s latest weekly sales stats show a sprinkle of variety. Many silver numismatic products outperformed their prior week’s performance, while bullion American Silver Eagles were held back due to deeper rationing.

Among the top three collector products, 2015 Proof Silver Eagles added 8,617 to their total compared to 6,673 reported last week, but demand eased for the 2014 Proof Silver Eagles, which gained 5,023 after tacking on 6,094 previously. The 2015 Silver Proof Set jumped by 3,431 following their 2,098 increase.

As for the newest release, the 2015 John F. Kennedy Coin & Chronicles Set, it edged its way up to 48,462 by Sunday, but an update issued by the Mint on Tuesday said that number fell by 345 units to 48,117. Sales now are at 96.2% of max.

Tighter rations were handed down on bullion Silver Eagles, a slow recent trend. The Mint for this week allowed 750,000 coins as compared to the 809,500 that was allowed a week earlier. The Mint permitted sales of 1,000,000 in the first and second week of the month. For three straight weeks, the week’s supply has been consumed by each Tuesday. To date for the year, the Mint has sold 35,054,500 Silver Eagles and that continues at a record pace.
