Sales for 2010 Silver Proof Sets gently tapered, while scorching hot silver bullion demand lit up again. In all, the United States Mint weekly sales report revealed a shining recovery for all but one, aforementioned, silver product.
It was another impressive week for bullion Silver Eagle coins. From Thursday to Tuesday, U.S. Mint authorized buyers picked up 660,000 coins. The addition moved November’s silver bullion total to just under one million. It arrived at 915,000. Year-to-date sales winded up at 29,545,500, which is 779,000 more than 2009’s record of 28,766,500. Plus, more purchasing will be expected since November has historically been one of the strongest months of the year for the series.
The highly anticipated 2010 Silver Eagle proof coin will launch next week on Friday, November 19.
For numismatic products, weekly gains improved for all but the 2010 Silver Proof Sets. They climbed by 10,154 compared to 10,343 previously. But the difference was only 189.
2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets advanced 2,477 after moving up 2,435. And the set from last year, the 2009 DC & US Territories Silver Quarters Proof Set which was recently discontinued, jumped by 1,647 versus the 50 that were bought during the last report. That gain of a thousand, though, tipped the sets over the 300K milestone, and caused their total to end up at 300,259.
As for individual proof and uncirculated silver coins, the American Veterans Disabled for Life dollars more than doubled. The combined gain of 3,949 was a huge improvement over the 1,875 that were sold in the last round. Broken down, 3,279 proofs and 670 uncirculated were taken versus 1,433 and 442 previously.
About 100,000 of these silver commemoratives were still available as of Sunday. The Mint is giving collectors a deadline of December 13, 2010 to place their orders for the disabled veteran coins if the maximum mintage of 350,000 is not hit.
