US Mint Sales: US Army Silver Commemorative Coins Rise
April 14, 2011 by Silver Coins Today · Leave a Comment
US Army silver commemorative coins spiked as did American Silver Eagles in the latest round of US Mint sales. Still missing in the numbers, however, was the new 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™.
Proof US Army silver dollars surpassed their previous week’s dip better than the uncirculated US Army silver dollars. The US Mint reported that 1,288 proofs and 433 uncirculated Army commemorative coins were sold to collectors compared to 760 and 268 in the last round.
Enthusiasm for the Medal of Honor silver commemorative coins stalled when compared to their prior week’s performances. The proofs advanced by 1,840 and the uncirculated commemorative coins picked up 488, but they had risen by 4,291 and 1,875 previously.
It is not known when the US Mint will reveal the starting sales figures for their 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™, which launched on Friday, April 1. The 2010 version, however, managed to jump by 2,352 despite being temporarily unavailable for another price adjustment.
The 2011 Silver Proof Set climbed 13,998 and the 2010 Silver Proof Set added 926. Both sets’ movement was weaker than their prior 14,839 and 974 gains.
Demand for bullion Silver Eagles rose during the early part of the week. The US Mint’s established network of Authorized Purchasers took in 715,000 compared to 658,500 in the first part of April. The month’s total cleared the one million marker and landed at 1,374,000. The bounce caused annual sales to roll in at 13,803,000.
