US Mint Silver Coin Releases in 2013 Product Schedule

Available to collectors is a new product schedule from the United States Mint that lists planned product launches through the twelve months in calendar year 2013.

A total of forty-seven releases are on the US Mint’s preliminary product schedule for 2013. Thirteen of them are silver coin or set products.

January begins with a number of silver coins and sets, highlighted by the January 4, 2013 sales debut of the 2013-P Proof American Eagle Silver Coin. This release date is more than three months earlier than last year’s April 12th launch. The silver coin is sure to be the US Mint’s most popular silver product of the year.

Another stand-out in the product schedule is a mid-year release of what is called the "American Eagle West Point Two-Coin Silver Set." That is apparently a preliminary name, as the US Mint’s product schedule has stamped beside it: "final product name TBD." The US Mint is yet to offer details, but it seems likely that it will have a West Point struck 2013-W Reverse Proof American Eagle Silver Coin and a West Point struck proof or uncirculated American Eagle Silver Coin. Last year’s product schedule tended to show month-by-month additions versus this year’s full twelve-month schedule from the get-go. The US Mint is promoting this as a change based on customer feedback.

"Getting this schedule out now shows that we are listening to our customers and are committed to them," stated Michael White of the US Mint. "Hopefully, this will allow our customers to better plan their purchases for next year."

No 2013 product prices are published as of this writing, but the US Mint noted it would offer them as soon as possible. Gold and silver coin product prices are always subject to change based on the precious metals market.
