It has been another hot week of sales for U.S. Mint numismatic silver coin products. While the American Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set from San Francisco led, sales of proof Silver Eagles maintained a quick pace as did Silver Proof Sets.
Between Wednesday, June 27, and Thursday, July 5, the 2012-S Silver Eagle Two Coin Set shot up by 88,157 and stands at 250,738 in four weeks. Per its online product page, that number will be updated one more time on Friday, July 6, by 3 PM ET.
Also surging, but not quite as furiously, were 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles. Their sales climbed 19,105 in the latest round of weekly figures after adding 18,696 previously. Their price has remained the same at $59.95 per coin, and their total reached 475,556.
Trailing not far behind the Eagles were 2012 Silver Proof Sets. Their sales moved up 18,090, which was also quicker than the prior report that showed a jump of 15,021. The Silver Proof Sets contain 14 coins and half of them are composed of 90% silver. (The set’s melt value is just over $37 at the current spot silver price of $27.67 an ounce.) Their new total hit 236,765. The 2011 version is still selling and is at 563,889.
