US Silver Coins Slow Again with Holiday and Pricing Cut Wait

Weekly coin sales numbers from the United States Mint reflected weakened demand that was, at least partly, the result of the Independence Day holiday and typical summer doldrums.
2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins featuring Perry’s Victory Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial in Ohio and White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. They are among the silver coins and products that will see lower prices Thursday, and that should improve US Mint sales next week.
Also, some interested buyers are waiting for expected US Mint pricing cuts that kick in later today on popular silver coins and silver sets. More on that later…
Of the three biggest numismatic silver sellers, the only one to outperform its previous weekly sales was the 2013-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle. In the prior report, the uncirculated Silver Eagles plummeted by -7,262, so coming out with a better number was quite easy. This time, the Silver Eagles advanced 1,339, and the new total came to 116,643 since its sales start on May 28.
The 2013 Silver Proof Set was the best weekly mover for the US Mint among silver products. It climbed another 3,122 after gaining 3,739 previously. With the latest increase, the set’s new total clocked in at 256,190. As for 2013-W Proof Silver Eagles, 2,456 more orders were added, so their sales-to-date reached 583,180.
2013 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins picked up 3,200 new orders since the last report. Broken out, Perry’s Victory silver strike led the pack with 1,900 while 800 were added to the White Mountain coin total and 500 went to the Great Basin coin total.
Since silver coin prices will be lower beginning at noon ET today, July 11, collectors will likely show more of their buying power. As a result, US Mint sales stats for silver product should improve in next week’s sales report.
